Chaz Cardigan

Vulnerabilia - EP
Artwork

Chaz Cardigan is a lot of things. He's openly gay and he's been out since he was a young age. He's a classically trained pianist. He likes to recite historical facts with gummy bears. Best of all, Chaz Cardigan is an incredible musician. His debut EP, Vulnerabillia proves that. It's five songs of self-produced material from Cardigan that showcases his ability to write songs, produce songs, and sing too.

What's cool about Cardigan's music is that no song sounds the same and his vocal delivery changes from song to song. One moment he'll sing like Butch Walker and deliver a song that way - ("Not OK!") - then, he'll sing a song like Rufus Wainwright and have a lot of flair to it - ("Being Human.") Really, that vocal diversity paired with Cardigan's ability to write a catchy song, ("Tightrope") are his best assets. Regarding his production, there's nothing here that's noticeably amazing but a huge part of Cardigan's ability to chameleon himself vocally with different songs comes as a producer too so he should get credit for that.

Cardigan's lyrics are good. His production work is solid and his music is fun. Vulnerabilia is a great EP from an artist that we'll all hopefully be listening to for the next 30-40 years.
