Philadelphia's The War on Drugs is a like a folk punk inspired version of new wave music. The band's album Lost in the Dream is another album we're a bit late to review, but another album we couldn't completely move on from 2014 without doing.
The third album from the band is a complete listen that's amazing from front to back and plays like an album, not just a collection of songs. There's even an amazing break in the music here with the instrumental called "The Haunting Idle" that short break in this album is just as good as the songs themselves.
The War on Drugs' Lost in the Dream is one of the best albums of 2014 and if you're looking for a hauntingly beautiful piece of music that's both schizophrenic and dynamic, then you don't need to look any further.
