Quietdrive

When All That`s Left Is You
Artwork

Hailing from Minnesota, Quietdrive makes their major label debut with “When All That’s Left Is You”. The Butch Walker produced album has some clear gems, but often seems to run together with a style that at times sounds all too much like All-American Rejects, Sugarcult, or Fall Out Boy. That shouldn’t take anything away from this band however. They already have a potential hit single in “Rise From The Ashes”, displaying strong creative lyrics that could carry this song along, then factor in some smooth production work from Walker, and you have a great lead off single. Perhaps the most impressive track, and a clear pick for the next single, is “Take A Drink With Me” which could catapult this band into the spotlight should this song ever find its way to radio. Its unforgettable hook, and great beat has all the ingredients for a hit. It’s harder to get drawn into some this bands mellower tracks like “Rush Together” or “I Lie Awake”, although it wouldn’t be fair to accuse those tracks to be lacking emotion or poor delivery, they just don’t have quite the same draw. The album includes a cover of Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time”, which does little to draw outside the lines Lauper originally laid down. Quietdrive has album that’s shows glimpses of potential, but ultimately the bands success will depend on whether they can separate themselves from the group of similar sounding bands they will be filed with.
