Savage After Midnight’s new EP 11:59 shows some serious promise for the five-piece rock act from Memphis. Their guitars and intensity combine with their synth work and driving rhythms to create something special across this five-song set.
Led by Shi Eubanks, his intensity and his charisma is where it starts for Savage After Midnight. He’s tremendous on all five songs on 11:59. The rest of the band is damn good too. The guitars are unique, and they don’t sound like they’ve been cookie-cuttered to fit in with the mainstream rock genre and their synth work adds a different element to the band’s sound; it doesn’t dominate – it just adds enough to the rock sound to make Savage After Midnight stand out.
Savage After Midnight’s 11:59 is a strong start for the band. Even though it took a lot of effort to get it recorded, the wait was worth it. It will be interesting to see where the band goes from here, whether they’ll push another release out this year or not. Shi and his crew have something special with Savage After Midnight. Let’s hope they keep making music.
