Hard rockers Trapt have lined up a US headlining run beginning almost immediately after the band finishes up its current stint as part of the ongoing Crue Fest. The California alt-metalists, who are supporting their recently released third studio album, Only Through the Pain, will launch the headlining run Sept. 3 in West Springfield, VA. The 17-date outing follows hot on the heels of the four remaining Crue Fest shows, including an appearance tonight (8/28) in Toronto. Dates are below. Aside from Trapt and tour namesakes Motley Crue, the traveling metal festival also features Buckcherry, Papa Roach, and Crue bassist Nikki Sixx’s side project, Sixx:A.M.. Only Through the Pain, Trapt’s third studio album and first since the departure earlier this year of lead guitarist Simon Ormandy (he was replaced by Robb Torres), debuted at No. 18 on The Billboard 200. The set, which follows last year’s Trapt Live! and 2005’s Someone in Control, teams the band with producer Gggarth Richardson (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine), who co-produced the band’s self-titled 2002 debut. The band employed music-video director Paul Brown (Motley Crue, Marilyn Manson) to create the video for the album’s first single, “Who’s Going Home With You Tonight.” Instead of just filming a video and slapping it up on MySpace, however, the band took things a few steps further, creating an entire social networking website centered around the album and it’s videos. “We decided to create our own unique social networking site for Trapt fans because of our frustration with MySpace,” said frontman Chris Brown in a statement, adding that the site is “simply a way for us to eliminate the middle man, or third wheel so to speak.” September 20083 – West Springfield, VA – Jaxx4 – Baltimore, MD – Ram’s Head Live5 – Columbia, SC – Headliner’s7 – Houston, TX – Scout Bar8 – Dallas, TX – The Loft9 – San Antonio, TX – Scout Bar10 – Pharr, TX – Graham Central Station12 – Springfield, MO – Outland Ballroom13 – Noblesville, IN – Verizon Wireless Music Center14 – Louisville, KY – Waterfront Park / The Great Lawn18 – Madison, WI – Majestic Theatre 21 – Denver, CO – Marquis Theater22 – Albuquerque, NM – Sunshine Theater24 – Las Vegas, NV – House of Blues25 – Santa Rosa, CA – Last Day Saloonz26 – Pomona, CA – The Glass House27 – Salt Lake City, UT – USANA Amphitheater
