Third Eye Blind has mapped out a US spring trek in anticipation of the group’s two impending albums, “Ursa Major” and “Ursa Minor,” which are expected to be released in 2009. The upcoming jaunt kicks off next week (3/18) in New Orleans and spends much of its time hugging the East Coast, with the exception of a few mid-tour stops in Tuscon, AZ; Cleveland, OH; St Louis, MO; and the trek’s June 18 finale in San Jose, CA. The full list of dates is below.Though specific release dates for the two new albums have not been announced, the band’s website says that “Ursa Major,” the group’s first studio effort in five years, will arrive in the fall. Singles from the work have been released in recent months, but only in the form of each song’s individual components–lead vocal, background vocal, drums, bass, guitar and violin–for fans to remix as part of a competition. Winners have already been chosen by the band; their creations will make up a digital compilation that will accompany the official album. “Ursa Minor,” to be released following “Ursa Major,” possibly in late 2009, is expected to contain B-sides and rare tracks from the alt-rockers. Third Eye Blind rose to fame in 1997 with their self-titled debut and its chart-topping singles “Jumper” and “Semi-Charmed Life.” [Note: The following tour dates have been provided by artist and/or tour sources, who verify its accuracy as of the publication time of this story.
