Theory Of A Deadman lead singer Tyler Connolly says unlike the bands last album, he tried to focus less on broken relationships on the bands new album 'Scars & Souvenirs,' and wrote some of the album's songs 'just for fun.'

Vancouver rock band Theory Of A Deadman will release their third album, Scars & Souvenirs, through Universal Music Canada on April 1. The album features 12 tracks produced by Howard Benson (Hoobastank, My Chemical Romance). Lead single “So Happy” is at radio stations now. Scars & Souvenirs was recorded last February at the end of the band’s tour for Gasoline, their 2005 sophomore release. That album and their 2002 self-titled debut were both certified platinum for selling 100,000 copies in Canada. Vocalist/guitarist Tyler Connolly says the band’s busy schedule made him focus on honing his skills as a songwriter. He says he tried to focus less on broken relationships on Scars & Souvenirs, and wrote some of the album’s songs “just for fun.” “For a while there, every song was, ‘Get the fuck out! I don’t need women! Screw them!’ That’s kinda how I felt at that point. But I’ve grown as a songwriter, and as a person. I wanted to write some different, nicer songs for a change.” Lead guitarist Dave Brenner and bassist Dean Back did some growing of a different kind in the studio. The two grew mustaches, which prompted Connolly to begin arriving at recording sessions wearing a fake one. His former ‘stache, which made him look like Freddie Mercury, could have easily passed as a fake. Despite this goofiness, Connolly says he’s serious about TOAD’s constant improvement, and Scars & Souvenirs is testament to that. “I always try to remind the guys and myself that there are 20 bands lined up behind us just waiting for a chance to take our place. So that means we had to go in there and make a great record.” Although Theory Of A Deadman currently have a handful of American festival dates lined up for March, April and May, they have not yet announced any Canadian dates in support of Scars & Souvenirs. Here are the tracks on Scars & Souvenirs: “By The Way” “So Happy” “Got It Made” “Not Meant To Be” “All Or Nothing” “Crutch” “Wait For Me” “Little By Little” “Girlfriend” “Sacrifice” “Hate My Life” “End Of Summer”
