The Naked and Famous are excited to announce the release of their new album, "Simple Forms".

The Naked and Famous are excited to announce the release of their new album, “Simple Forms”, coming this October 14th, 2016 via their label Somewhat Damaged in partnership with Kobalt Label Services. The album will be available for pre-order on July 29th. The band has shared first single “Higher” and announced an extensive North American tour to accompany this third album release from the group. Consequence of Sound reviewed, “the lead single off Simple Forms, deals with both pain and passion, and in great quantities. Razor synths buzzsaw and grind before being uplifted by Xayalith’s skyscraper vocals.” Originally hailing from New Zealand, TNAF have carved a fiercely autonomous path to this creative peak and delivered an album that showcases their finely polished, self-produced sound. Simple Forms was conceived in the Echo Park home studio of guitarist/vocalist/producer Thom Powers at a point where the band had come close to tearing apart under the strain of the breakdown of the eight year romance between Powers and co-vocalist Alisa Xayalith. Their ability to pull euphoric electronic pop from the shadows is undiminished and “Higher” is another example of the group’s soaring dynamics at play. “My production idea in The Naked and Famous has always been to set the insularity of our songwriting in a space where intimacy and explosive excitement can bring tension and release,” says Powers. “To me, that is what contemporary pop should be. Our ambition is that this music be noticed and we’re proud of what we’ve achieved in the studio.” “There’s pain and passion behind this art,” says Alisa, picking up this theme. “Pop techniques are all about maximum impact. And it’s not like this is an album of bangers but it’s the most immediate thing we’ve ever done.” The album is the long awaited follow up to their 2011 smash debut Passive Me, Aggressive You, which featured breakthrough tracks “Young Blood” and “Punching In A Dream”, and 2013’s epic, emotionally charged album In Rolling Waves. The North American tour kicks off this Fall after they play both weekends at this year’s Austin City Limits festival. Having stepped out of the studio for an instant sell-out run of club shows in Spring, TNAF promise the return of their trademark high impact live visuals in Fall. Headline tour dates go on sale Friday, July 15th.
