Tegan and Sara have released a colorful, ’90s-inspired video for “I’ll Be Back Someday,” the lead single from their upcoming album, Hey, I’m Just Like You, due out on September 27 via Sire Records.
The album is based on material Tegan and Sara wrote and recorded when they were teenagers.
The Natalie Fält-directed video shows the duo, clad in stylish outfits that include edgy boots, retro sneakers and patterned button-downs, performing in front of colored walls in what appears to be a waiting room.
“I run, run, run, run, run away/Get, get, get, get away,” Tegan and Sara sing on the chorus. “But I’ll be back someday/I’ll be back someday.”
“We worked with our favourite stylist in the world, Toyo Tsuchiya for the looks for this video,” the sisters shared on social media. “She is so good and understands our style so well, she has really nailed the 90s inspired but modern vibes we have wanted for Hey, I’m Just Like You.”
The video also features several other props, such as a wild-patterned electric guitar and a landline telephone, which the sisters describe as “one of the key elements of our high school lives.” The phone cord also draws a parallel to their 2008 video for “Call It Off.”
Their new memoir, “High School,” will be out on September 24, a few days ahead of the album’s arrival.
