Reports of a film adaptation of My Chemical Romance's "The Black Parade" may be exaggerated, but the project is not beyond the realm of possibility, according to MCR frontman Gerard Way.

Reports of a film adaptation of My Chemical Romance’s “The Black Parade” may be exaggerated, but the project is not beyond the realm of possibility, according to frontman Gerard Way. Way tells Billboard.com that the movie reports are just “rumors” and that the band is “not talking to anybody about that.” Nevertheless, he adds, “it is something that we would love to see. I can’t say that people should expect it in the future, but I know it’s in the public vibe right now and people are talking about it. So, we’ll see.” For now the New Jersey quintet is busy playing radio station holiday shows to promote “The Black Parade,” which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in October. The group is also in the midst of hashing out details of a headlining tour for 2007, expected in April/May “We’re in the planning stages,” Way reports. “We’re going to retain the essence of a rock show. It’s not going to be like seeing [Pink Floyd’s] ‘The Wall.’ It’s going to bring the music and the band and the record to life. It’s going to be theatrical without detracting from [the music]; it’s not going to be surface over substance.” Way says that My Chemical Romance will perform part of the show as the Black Parade, the circus-like alter ego it adopts on the new album. “We’re really focusing on being great performers, then the theatrics will come into play.” As previously reported, My Chemical Romance will hit the road with the Big Day Out festival tour in Australia and New Zealand during January and February alongside acts like the Killers, Tool and Jet. My Chemical Romance is also slated for a U.K. tour in March.
