Judah & the Lion continue to share new music today with a revamped acoustic version of their 2017 hit “Suit & Jacket” and a cover of Sheryl Crow’s feel-good favorite “Soak Up The Sun.” Both tracks are available now. The new songs follow the acoustic version of their single “Beautiful Anyway” which was released last month. “Beautiful Anyway” continues its rise with another week of climbing at Alternative Radio, hitting #13 as the band also reaches the milestone of half a billion total streams. Lead singer, guitarist and songwriter Judah Akers sat down last week to talk to Radio.com about the powerful track ahead of their appearance at “I’m Listening,” which took place this Wednesday and brought together artists, athletes and individuals nationwide to take on the stigma around mental health. The song comes from the perspective of Akers comforting a friend who is struggling through depression and anxiety. “As a writer, there’s this choice of like, do I be vague and poetic or do I really meet it where it’s at,” he explained. Ultimately, he decided to speak directly to that friend or fan going through the darkest of places with a message of hope: “Yes, it is clinical, and yes, it can be medical, but as a friend, you’re just like… ‘You’re awesome, and you’re beautiful, and the fact that you’re choosing to fight for your life and to fight for others… that’s courage.’”
