With a new full-length set slated for a fall release, alt-rockers Everclear will spend the spring and summer pounding the pavement throughout much of North America. The road trip begins next week when the group performs an April 14 show in Langly, British Columbia, followed by nine consecutive Canadian performances. In mid-May, the band will kick off the US portion of the run with a May 15 concert in Indianapolis. In all, Everclear plans to stop by clubs and theaters in 26 North American cities, including four mid-August appearances along the West Coast with the Vans Warped Tour. The full schedule is shown at right. Last fall, the Portland, OR-based outfit unveiled “In a Different Light,” the band’s first release on 429 Records. The set, which follows 2006’s “Welcome to the Drama Club,” features a collection of older hits (“Father of Mine,” “Santa Monica”) performed acoustically, as well as two new tracks penned by frontman Art Alexakis. “Basically when you’ve been in a band like I have in this band playing these songs, some of them for 15 years, they’re gonna evolve, you know?” Alexakis explained in a recent interview with Stubble magazine. “To make them interesting for us, but at the same time you gotta walk the line of making them sound like the people who were drawn in by a lot of these songs in the first place, so they still sound familiar and sound good to them.” A new full-length studio effort will hit shelves this fall, according to a press release.
