Cold War Kids have made history as “First,” the band’s RIAA gold certified 2015 single, has been named by BDS (Broadcast Data Systems) for earning the most spins at Alternative radio outlets nationwide this decade. The track tops BDS’ “Alternative Top-500 Airplay For Decade (January 1, 2010-December 31, 2019)” with 214,342 spins in less than five years, besting blockbuster hits by AWOLNATION, Arctic Monkeys, Portugal. The Man, and Milky Chance, among others. “First” follows the previous decade’s most played Alternative track, The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.” Produced by Lars Stalfors and Dann Gallucci, “First” is featured on Cold War Kids’ 2014 LP, HOLD MY HOME. Released as a single on February 17, 2015, the track quickly ascended Billboard’s “Alternative Songs” chart, spending seven weeks at #1 – the band’s highest chart placement to date. “First” remained on the chart for a grand total of 64 weeks, marking the second longest running single in chart history. As if that weren’t enough, “First” also topped Billboard’s “Rock Airplay” tally, ultimately ranking as 2016’s second most played at the format. “This is insane!” says Cold War Kids’ Nathan Willett. “Thank you radio friends and fans. What an honor.” Cold War Kids will be celebrating the release of their latest album, NEW AGE NORMS 1, with a major North American headline tour, with headline dates beginning January 16 at Portland, OR’s Crystal Ballroom and then continuing through late February.
