What
separates this album from the past verve pipe albums?
"Much more reflective, personalized song writing.
Less ambiguous, more acoustic guitar."
What is your favorite track on the CD? what is the inspiration behind
it? When does it come out?
"Mileage is
my favorite. It's a simple song of reflection, and acceptance. the album
should be out in a few weeks -- but the song is available for listening
at
mp3.com"
Will there be more solo work in the future, or a new full band
release?
"The future holds many solo discs, as well as
verve pipe discs. Though there is something magical about playing and
recording with the verve pipe, it's very cathartic to record on my own
as well. It's also given me another creative outlet, which brings me
peace."
Do you write the lyrics or music first?
"Always
melody first!"
Is going solo much different than a full band experience? Did the
band have writing power or did you do most of it?
"Donny (our drummer) is a phenomenal
songwriter. Dougy as well. That's why it's tough to get songs on our
record -- we all try to out do each other, which is healthy, and makes
for better records. The solo work is all me, however, and that's nice
too."
How did the shooting of the movie "dead and breakfast" go? Do you
think you will continue acting?
"Dead and breakfast was by far the toughest
film role yet -- for what looks like about five minutes on screen. I had
to wear a prosthetic face -- one I covered at all times -- 3 hours of
make-up and then walk around with a drumstick in my eye for another 14
hours. Headaches galore!"
What's in your CD player at home now? what are your all time favorite
CDs?
"Bjork's post. Love that record -- Nick
Drake's Pink Moon, Elvis Costello's spike, XTC's skylarking, The
Beatles' Abby Road."
Who is your favorite artist that you've toured with in the past? Who
would you LOVE to tour with?
"kiss was my favorite! what a blast! I would
love it if XTC went out and took us!"
How did it feel to rewrite Spoonful of Sugar with "contemporary"
lyrics for the Aware Compilation? Did you mind? Do you consider it a
completely different song?
"It was my choice to rewrite the lyrics -- I
hated the idea of just doing the same tune!"
I want to ask the infamous question-where do you see yourself in 10
years?
"5 kids -- My wife's in charge"
What is the funniest email you received? or funniest thing a fan did
for you or to you?
"I can't think of one really funny email.
hmmmm."
Who rules more. The Spartans, or the Wolverines?
The Spartans -- as evident in the NCAA
playoffs. |
