Who Were They?
Oleander was a four piece rock band formed in the mid 90's
who released a self-titled EP on indie label Fine Records in
1996, followed by their full length debut Shrinking The Blob
in 1997. The song "Down When I'm Loaded" from the album became
a regional hit and the band signed to Universal Records.
The bands major label debut February
Son came out in 1999, and featured the hit singles "Why I'm
Here" and "I Walk Alone." They released Unwind in 2001, which
included the hit song "Are You There?". The song "Champion" became
about the sacrifice of firefighters during the September 11, 2001
attacks in New York City.
Shortly after the band parted ways
with Universal, and released 2003's Joyride on Sanctuary
Records.
Height of
Popularity
The band's hit singles "Why I'm Here" and "I Walk Alone" are
the most recognizable, but the band released some of their best, and
most overlooked work with the subsequent releases following their
major label debut.
Where Are
They Now?
The band is on an unofficial hiatus. No statement has been
released by the band, however vocalist Thomas Flowers is
currently collaborating with the band The Black Summer Crush.
