Who Are They?
Greenwheel was a alternative rock band from St. Louis that
formed in 1999 under the name Soma Holiday. They released
their self titled independent debut album in 2000, and quickly
caught the ear of several major labels.
In 2002, the band signed to Island
Records and changed their name to Greenwheel. As a tribute to
their original name, the band named their major label debut Soma
Holiday. The album spawned the hits "Breathe" and "Shelter".
The band began work on their second album, titled "Electric Blanket"
in 2004, but was let go from the label before the album would be
released.
In 2006, the band independently
released an EP titled, Bridges For Burning, which featured the
singles "Caving In" and "Lonely Afterglow".
Height of
Popularity
The band's major label debut would
mark the height of their popularity, specifically their song
"Breathe," which although is best known for the cover version done
by Melissa Ethridge, gained significant airplay in several markets
and remains a fan favorite.
Where Are They
Now?
In 2007, the band announced they
would be recording under the name Go Van Gogh, with a considerably
different sound.
