When two guys like Fred Mascherino (Taking Back Sunday, The Color Fred) and Andy Jackson (Hot Rod Circuit) come together the end result is going to be fantastic. Toss in a drummer with the notoriety of Josh Eppard (Coheed & Cambria) and you’ve got a band with some serious chops. Terrible Things’ self-titled debut album is worth checking out, just on rep alone. If you haven’t heard the debut single “Revolution” from the band yet, that’s the epitomizing song for these guys. There’s a ton of energy and emotion like Taking Back Sunday when Fred was in the group. Then there are songs with Andy providing vocals and songs with Fred doing the singing so there’s a ton of diversity too. The lone criticism here is that Andy’s vocal songs might sound a little too much like Hot Rod Circuit songs and half of Fred’s songs sound a little too much like Taking Back Sunday. Still, this debut album has some awesome songs including the aforementioned “Revolution” and the band’s anthem and the fifth song on the album “Terrible Things.” This isn’t to be missed if you’re a fan of alternative music with a shade of punk. Not every song is amazing but there are some great songs.
