Atom Smash’s debut “Love is in the Missile” is another typical release from a mainstream rock band. It seems like ever since Hinder came out and had some success we’ve been bombarded with debut albums like this one. It’s a little edgy with some sex content and then it has a couple of songs that could be featured on “Monster Ballads” two decades from now. It is what it is. Despite this, when this band goes outside of ‘mainstream rock by numbers’ they’re damn good. The production is never bad with some assistance from David Bendeth and there are songs that flat out rock like “Sacrifice”, “Erase Those Days”, and “Last Call.” I’ll even admit that “Do Her Wrong” has a crazy infectious melody. “Love is in the Missile” is a decent debut with several songs to enjoy. It’s not bad- it’s a debut album similar to Cavo’s… only not quite as good.
