Residing on the same label as Bush (remember them) and the quite awesome The Vanished, Surviving August-formerly known as Providence- formed in 2001 and have cut their teeth touring with the likes of Dexter Freebish, The Gin Blossoms and Switchfoot. John Kirtland of Deep Blue Something fame felt the band had something and signed them to his label.
Combining elements of The Calling, Our Lady Peace and even Bliss 66, Surviving August have produced an album that is streets above the competition in terms of consistency and quality. One listen to the hooky opener ‘NY Roll’ with its incessant guitar refrain, the downbeat ‘Lost in Space’ or the sensational power pop of ‘The Other Side’ will convince you that Surviving August are more than just gatecrashers at the modern rock party. Highly recommended
