Inward Eye's "Throwing Bricks Instead of Kisses" is a classic example of not judging an entire album just by a single. There's more to this album. If you've heard the infectious "Day After Day" by the band, you might think that they're a pop group. They're not. Their influences extend far beyond that and you can hear specific things on their album; everything from Roy Orbison to Hall & Oates to Kenny Loggins. Sounds like a lame batch of influences for a rock band, but really amazing artists. Inward Eye did something different with those influences, they modernized the studio traits and the song writing traits of those artists (and several others) and they make them sound a little edgier. "Throwing Bricks Instead of Kisses" is all in all a fun album. Inward Eye made a record that used to be made more often. There's sixty seconds of instrumentation moving from solo to solo and lots of other imperfections in the music that make it more enjoyable; wabi-sabi type stuff. Sure, there's material on here that doesn't work but there's also a number of songs that do. With "Throwing Bricks Instead of Kisses", you have to admire the spirit and the sound to Inward Eye.
