The Dirty Heads
Meese’s “Broadcast” is a pleasant surprise of 2009. Judging by the single with these guys is a rough way to go. I was hesitant to review this album because “Next in Line” sounded too much like Metro Station and the other crap that comes out on a consistent basis. I put the album in the bottom of the pile to be reviewed, but I was happy that it finally got a turn to be reviewed… because I was blown away by “Broadcast.” Not only is this a great band, but this is a great album. Meese can best be described as a happy medium between The Shins and Jack’s Mannequin… not something you would draw from when listening through “Next in Line” but something you can gather from a large chunk of this album. There’s some piano in here of course, but vocalist Patrick Meese’s stellar voice is the best part of the record he pulls you through this album on tracks like “Out of the Rubble”, “Bonfire” ,and the builder “Forward Motion. Check out Meese and “Broadcast”, you won’t be disappointed here.
