Matisyahu’s latest album “Light” is what you would expect from a guy like Matisyahu. It doesn’t sound anything like his previous albums and this was done on purpose. There are also a ton of collaborations here including Joel Madden and tons others. It’s not surprising that Matisyahu toned done the reggae slightly, it is surprising that he branched out and found something original instead of what can be described as general pop music. Matisyahu has found potential hits with “Darkness Into Light” and “Smash Lies.” Both of these songs are just solid songs. Especially “Darkness Into Light”- it’s definitely a track that would work great on Alternative radio. Matisyahu’s latest album isn’t a set that’s going to please the reggae fans that he’s had following him since he started but it’s album that’s going to appeal to a larger group of people.
