What I’ve always admired about Emery is the band’s contrast one minute they’re shaking the speakers with some serious scream and then the next they’re putting you to sleep with some melodic stuff… you’re almost sleeping, you’re almost sleeping, you close your eyes and start to drift…. And then…. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH- what I’m saying is Emery keeps you on your toes. They flirted with just going melodic for a little bit, not anymore. The band’s latest record “In Shallow Seas We Sail” might be the band’s hardest record to date. Sure there are still the melodic moments and the transactions that make Emery but it is but there are only a few songs that don’t focus on the screamo end of their music. This is an extremely hard record so it’s not for everybody but fans of Emery’s first two records will be big fans of this record.
