It's been awhile since the last Rancid record and while the world has changed drastically for a punk rock album Rancid hasn't and the band has stayed tried and true to what they do best... making good punk music inflicted with a touch of ska here and there for good measure. Rancid's "Let the Dominoes Fall" is a better record than "Indesctructible" but really only sufferes in two areas. the first is that this record might be slightly over produced- I want Rancid sounding filthy- I'm a purist I guess. The other problem isn't really a problem just something to point it. "Let the Dominoes Fall" sounds like the absolute standard of everything else that Epitpah has ever released. Not really a bad thing, but you know it comes to mind. As cool as Rancid is, it's kind of like Fueled by Ramen. there are Fueled by Ramen bands and there are Epitaph bands. I like Epitaph bands better but you get what I'm getting at. "Let the Dominoes Fall" has a few surprises and a few dull moments but it has the band's best single in years ("Last One to Die") and some of their strongest material. Something to pick up an check out for sure.
