The talented, San Francisco based, singer/ songwriter Matt Nathanson makes his major label with "Beneath These Fireworks" The undeniable talent of this young musician is apparent from the acoustic opener "Angel" and the hook filled "Suspended" Equally impressive is the current single "Sad Songs" which is a perfect showcase for this artist's unique vocal style and undeniable songwriting skills. Perhaps the only complaint on this record is that much of the record is taken from Nathanson's prior indie releases, however some his best work from these prior records are nowhere to be found. This doesn't however mean that this record is lacking by any means, especially with the beautifully written "Lucky Boy" and "Weight Of It All" that close out this impressive debut record. Although Nathanson will more than likely draw comparisons to John Mayer and Jason Mraz, make no mistake Matt Nathanson will quickly emerge with an identity all his own.
