Dallas modern hard rock outfit Edgewater are a little less celebrated than their more publicised label mates Creed and Evanescence but none less valid on a label keen to offer bands a lasting career. Certainly Fuel and Lost Prophets should be glancing worryingly over their shoulders. Whilst Edgewater exhibit many of the traits of these bands ‘South of Sideways’-the band’s third release- has enough originality to stand on its own two feet. Clear evidence can be heard in the heavy clout of opener ‘Inhale’ the catchy yet edgy first single ‘Eyes Wired Shut’ or the now compulsory new rock power ballad ‘Circles’. Saving the best until last in the awesomely heavy ‘Quitter’ or the Killing Joke inspired ‘Lifter’-a revamped version from the 2001 album of the same name-it will forever remain a mystery as to why the incredible ‘Engage’ was omitted from an album that could easily prove to be another big seller from the New York based label.
