The Take Off and Landing of Everything
Relient K's 26 Track, 2 disc set put on one disc isn't a bad listen but it's not a definitive set for the band either. They've got two things going on here. The first thirteen tracks are "The Nashville Tennis EP" and the last thirteen songs are "The Bird and the Bee Sides." The first thirteen songs on this album make the record. All of the members of the band take turns on lead vocals which makes it some of their most different sounding material. They jump from punk to country to folk to alternative and back to punk on this disc always staying a little quirky and a little goofy because that's when Relient K is at their best. The Nashville Tennis EP is the best part of the two halves that make up this album. As for "The Bird and the Bee Sides" - there are a bunch of different remixed, remastered versions of the bands previous works. It's not bad but it's not nearly as good as the first 13 tracks and it's a little hard to listen through all the way after you get done with the first 13 songs. I love Relient K but I don't know if I love them 26 tracks worth. This collection is for the people out there that do love them- 26 tracks worth- and there's definitely a lot of those people out there.
