After promoting it and playing it do death, My Chemical Romance’s “The Black Parade” is dead. They won’t promote it anymore and they’re sending it off with a live CD/DVD in “The Black Parade is Dead!” The set includes a CD featuring a live set from Mexico City, and the DVD features that same set live in Mexico City as well as a show from Hoboken, NJ. The Hoboken show is a little more intimate than the Mexico City show and is recorded better and is a better performance from the band. As for the Mexico City show… the performance by the band is great but the recording isn’t that great. It’s almost like the mic’s were too hot on Gerald Way’s end and they sound slightly distorted. It just doesn’t sound quite right. Still, it’s cool to see some of the dramatics performed in front of a huge crowd and it’s even better to see that huge crowd singing back at MCR with just as much passion as Gerald Way is singing himself. It’s not a perfect live set and it’s not really on par with other Warner live recordings, but it’s definitely worthy of picking up for all of the hardcore My Chemical Romance fans.
