A greatest hits collection is a milestone for any artist. It’s shows that not only have you had that one hit that was a success but you’ve at least done it a couple of times and had numerous songs that have got recognition from radio people, TV people, your fan base, and the population in general. Late last year David Gray released his greatest hits collection and for newcomers like myself, it’s a great set of fourteen songs. The hits that everybody knows are here- “Babylon” and “Please Forgive Me” as well as other strong tracks like “Be Mine” and “Alibi.” There are twelve tracks of Gray’s best work here that will provide a good session for anyone willing to listen. There are also two new tracks on the compilation “You’re the World To Me” and “Destroyer”, two of Grays better tracks that he’s done in recent years. David Gray’s “Greatest Hits” isn’t a classic collection for the ages and it’s not a must-own album, but for fans of thoughtful lyrics and great songwriting it’s worth your time.
