We Are Only What We Feel
NoNoNo

Athlete represents everything that is right about UK music and everything that is wrong with most American Rock. Forget all the Coldplay comparisons, on Athlete’s third album they earn the right to be considered a force music. “Beyond the Neighbourhood” is a collection of melodic rock songs that are a breath of fresh air from the over done punk rock sound that plagues American radio today. From the rousing instrumental opener “In Between 2 States” to the hook filled “Tokyo,” this album gives the listener something more than just the same old cookie cutter rock sound. Athlete’s creative sound will remind listeners of bands like Paloalto, Remy Zero, and yes…a little bit like Coldplay. It remains to be seen of the driving piano hooks and reverberating guitars will catch on to massive amounts American listeners, but either way this is a band that deserves to be heard.
