Its been three years since the last Better Than Ezra album, over that time the band has seen some major turmoil, getting dropped from Elektra, releasing a B-Sides collection under their own label, and now they release their fourth album on Universal Records. We can confidently say that the band has grown musically over the past few years, and are now making some of the best sounding music they ever have. Closer is not only one of the best records of the year, but possibly the best album that BTE has ever put together. From the opening track Misunderstood which mixes a unique sound with some classic BTE style lyrics, the listener is quickly drawn into their sound. The heartfelt tracks Closer, and A Lifetime are beautifully written, and complimented perfectly by the vocals of Kevin Griffin. The rocking sound of Sincerely, Me, and the soothing groove of Get You In will satisfy even the most diverse music fan. And the cleverly written Briefly speaks for its self after just one listen. On "Closer" Better than Ezra proves to us all they are Better Than Ever.
