After a stint with Militia imprint SideCho and a debut album ‘Sing But Keep Going’ that sold over 20,000 copies, California’s Sherwood eventually signed to the fledgling Myspace label. Produced by Lou Giordano, ‘A Different Light’ is a superior power pop album, with inescapable similarities to the likes of Waking Ashland, Holland and The Click Five. With a potential audience of millions via the Myspace network and songs ready made for commercial success, don’t bank against Sherwood becoming an instant success. Songs like the infectious ‘Song In My Head’, the Beach Boys flavoured ‘Alive’ and the synthesised power pop carve up ‘’Best In Me’ have more hooks that an angling school cloakroom. With the majority of the album following suit ‘A Different Light’ makes a perfect summer soundtrack….even if it’s still only the spring. To purchase go to myspace.com/sherwood
