You Haunt Me
Somewhere Under Wonderland
Hoobastank solidified themselves as one of alternative rock’s elite bands with their 2004 release “The Reason” which featured the smash hit title track and turned Hoobastank into from some word no one could pronounce to a household name. Now they return with “Every Man for Himself” an album that accentuates Hoobastank’s best features, but does little to push this band beyond the boundaries they’ve set since their debut album. The album starts out with a puzzling Drill Sergeant barking order to a building drum beat that leads into the first track “Born To Lead”. Howard Benson’s smoothed over production is evident once again, on tracks like “Moving Forward” and the single “If I Were You”. Perhaps the most enjoyable track is the newly released single “Inside Of You” which includes a catchy back beat, a strong hook, and a somewhat refreshing sound. Beyond that, Hoobastank does little to push beyond the stereotypical sound that over saturates alternative rock today.
