The Take Off and Landing of Everything

Toronto trio Danko Jones, continue where they left off on their previous release ‘Born a Lion’. Suffocating machismo permeates through the minimalist rock, confronting the listener with sexist lyrics and oft-hilarious self parody. Think The Angels meets AC/DC, think basic riff orientated rock and roll, and think……this rocks! With a crisp production and a sure footed feel, songs like the lyrically banal ‘Lovercall’ or the equally humorous ‘Living in The City’(guess which word gets rhymed with city?) provide adequate fodder for the rock club dance floor or the live crowd. In fact most of the songs on offer would do likewise. Offering nothing new, ‘We Sweat Blood’ may suffer from a lack of song distinction, but it offers rock and roll in its purest most primitive state, few are doing that these days and for that we should be grateful.
