Relatively unknown until the release of their single “Swing Life Away,” Rise Against has splashed onto the scene with their new album “Siren Song of the Counter Culture.” While the single’s acoustic melodic driven sound is attracting new listeners, the other tracks on this album are not even close to the style of “Swing Life Away.” Instead the album is filled with heavy guitars, screaming vocals, and an all together overdone sound in today’s modern rock genre. It would be very hard to find another song with any melody at all, let alone a song with the acoustic driven melodies that the infectious single possesses. While many fans will be introduced to the band through their first single, beware, it sounds nothing like the rest of this album.
