Beginning life as the ambiguously named ‘Uncle Ed’s Private Jet’, Canadian melodic hardcore outfit Stutterfly successfully courted Maverick as a result of their 2002 ‘Broken in Pieces’ debut. Prior to this the band had minor successes with the release of two demos ‘Hollow’ and ‘Descent’. Produced by Ulrich Wild (Deftones, Taproot) the album-as is the case with a good majority of major label debut albums- includes four songs from the previous release. If your penchant is for material that incorporates elements of the aforementioned hardcore bands plus a few others; the Lost Prophets early material being a reference point, then this release will find a comfortable place in your collection. Typified by the current single ‘Gun in Hand’ featured in the soundtrack to ‘House of Wax’ or the equally melodic nu metal of ‘Where Angels Cry’, ‘And We Are Bled Of Color’ competently treads water within the genre, making it a worthwhile but hardly essential release.
