Howie Day’s “Ceasefire EP” doesn’t contrast “Stop All the World Now”, it extends it. You can take these six songs and put them at the end of that album or sprinkle them in here and there and it would play seamlessly. Any hopes of Howie sounding like he did on “Australia” are out the window on this EP. However, if you like what Howie has done on his last two albums, then you’ll like this EP. These six songs have strong hooks and stronger production. On the first listen through this sounds like Howie Day without anything new. But when you start listening through the songs you hear bits of programming and you notice the string arrangements. The attention to detail on the production side of this EP is fantastic. This EP won’t get your attention immediately but if you give it a chance it’ll make a lasting impression. It would be nice to get some variety, but surely most Howie Day fans can compromise for something of value.
