Bayside’s fourth studio album and their Wind-Up Records debut is “Killing Time”. Bayside has always been a great band, but with the new record they’ve picked things up and they’ve tried to make a great album. Songs like “Sick, Sick, Sick”, “Mona Lisa”, and “Seeing Sound” are all fantastic songs that have the potential to do big things at radio (especially “Mona Lisa”.) And the reason why these songs are all capable tracks is attributed to the production with the album. It’s better here than it’s been on previous Bayside efforts. One could argue that it’s a little too polished for a Bayside record, but it fits the songs that they wrote on the album well. There are great songs here but is this a great album? That’s a tough call. There are several excellent songs on this record but they’re not all as good as the three tracks mentioned above. It’s not great, but it is good. It’s about 2 songs away from being superb, but there’s some fantastic music on this record that should help bring Bayside in front of some new people.
