We’ve listened to several mainstream rock records over the past few months. None of those albums have the complete package of songs that I Am Empire has. “Kings” has its flaws, don’t get me wrong. But when listening to this album, you’ll never be let down by the melodic choruses, the driving solos, and the music itself. “You’re A Fake”, “Hammers and Anvils”, and “Brain Damage” are fantastic songs and the complete package; great production, well-written, and fantastic lyrics. These guys are a great band, there’s no doubt about that. We’ve always been huge fans of Tooth & Nail and the quality of product that they’ve put over the past decade. This might be their best release in the past two years. That’s saying something about I Am Empire and “Kings.” There are some moments where the production should be thicker and the lyrics aren’t as good as they could be, but those flaws don’t overshadow the quality of the music. I Am Empire’s Tooth & Nail debut is thick, melodic, catchy, inspirational, and a must-listen.
