A Thousand Horses’ self-titled debut EP is a great teaser for what is hopefully going to be a big year for these guys. Before they even had a band, they were signed by Interscope. They went in and played a couple of songs… and were signed on the spot. It’s easy to hear why. They stand out as a dirty rock band that can wail and croon they’re way to rock notoriety. It’s true, they’ve got a little bit of a retro-rock vibe to them, that’s probably a third of their sound. There are also some White Stripes vibes going on with use of some distortion etc. What does stand out above the other qualities are the hooks in the songs. They are insanely-catchy rock songs. All five of the songs on this EP are outstanding. They’ve got some independent cred going on with minimal production, they’ve got great songs and the band is excellent. The EP is awesome, the full album should blow us away. Look out for A Thousand Horses.
