Philadelphia based band Bonehead have returned with a new album entitled 'Broken and Glued' the first album since the band left MCA Records after recording the album 'Wonderful Nothing' under the band name Familiar 48.
The new album is comprised of a number of songs that lead singer Jayy Mannon has written since his days in Familiar 48.
"Bonehead is not the same band that it was, 'Broken and Glued' are songs that were recorded after Familiar 48 kinda came and went, left that situation where it was and started over again," Mannon told Alternative Addiction. "I had songs that I written, that I just wanted to record."
To record Broken and Glued, Mannon returned to the studio where he recorded Bonehead's critically acclaimed debut album "Fade." After being invited back by the studio owner, he and Bonehead / F-48 guitarist and longtime songwriting collaborator Kevin Hug and recorded "Broken and Glued."
"It was weird recording with out a band, it was me playing drums, and Kevin playing guitar and bass. And it was just kind of the best that two married men could do putting an album together."
Shortly after Mannon broke up Familiar 48, he began recording new songs as a solo artist. One of the songs, entitled "Didn't I" found its way onto the Addiction V.2 compilation release in 2003, shortly after Mannon decided to begin playing again under the name Bonehead and re-record the song along with nine other tracks for the new album.
Mannon said that he decided to begin playing under the name Bonehead because he enjoys sharing the song writing and recording process with others, and doesn't want to detract attention from the other members in the band.
"I'm uncomfortable using my own name because I feel like I am singling my self out, I don't feel like I am a solo act, I feel like I am a band. I've always liked that, I've always like having other people work my music instead of just me writing a song and being like- 'This is how it is man.' I like people to come up with ideas for my songs."
