Coldplay recently paid it forward when they donated $17,000 to one of their fans with motor neuron disease.
The band donated the large lump sum to medical research in tribute to Jody Duff, who has the disease, which is also called MND. At a young age Duff was diagnosed with the terminal disease, which doesn't receive much federal funding in the U.S. or U.K. Because of this he started to ask for donations via his JustGiving page.
When Coldplay made a recent stop at Royal Albert Hall Duff attended and gave the staff a letter to give to the band. Once the band received the letter they asked Duff to come backstage.
"Chris (Martin) stopped whatever he was doing and sat next to me and was genuinely interested in finding out about motor neuron disease," said Duff.
After this Coldplay invited Duff, his sister and their friend to an after-party and also gave them tickets to the second show at Royal Albert Hall. This was followed by the band donating the money to Duff, while also encouraging other people to donate.
