Andy Grammer's sophomore album, Magazines or Novels will be out on August 5, 2014. It's the follow-up album to Andy's highly successful self-titled debut, and if early indications of the performance of the debut single off of the album, "Back Home" - then it's going to do just as well for the former street performer.

"As far as songwriting, this is the most intense I've ever been," said Grammer talking with Alternative Addiction about Magazines or Novels. "Day after day being in the studio writing every day. That's what I did with this album. What was cool about this, which was different from the first one, is it's more personal. The first record is like you're getting to know someone. It's like people were getting to know me on that first record. I'm not going to dig into my dirty laundry and share that with you right away. What's cool about this second record is that with the first record I got a lot of great stories from people that the songs made a difference for. There were so many stories and so many cool things. After all that, I came back and I thought that I knew these fans now. So, I wrote this second album like I was writing it for close friends. There's a lot of scars, there's a lot of honesty here. Not everything is happy with this record. There are some different colors on this album. It's a more vulnerable version of my music," added Grammer.

A more vulnerable version of Andy Grammer is what we're going to get from the songwriter with this new record, but we'll also get a lot of the same things in the live environment. Grammer says the plan with the new record is a lot like the plan with the old record; to get out on the road and tour, and then tour some more.

"We're just going to tour the s%#& out of this," started a chuckling Grammer. "I just want to get out and continue playing for everyone. I get to go over to Australia in a month which is awesome. We're going to run around the country and we're going to keep pounding it into everyones ears because I think it's really good. I like the idea of sharing the parts of you that aren't that cool. I think people are drawn into that material. I've never done this before. I've never been this honest with music before."

Andy Grammer's Magazines or Novels hits on August 5, 2014.
