Jack White's latest album, Lazaretto, has broken the record for first weeks sales of a vinyl album.

The LP has sold 40,000 copies in vinyl, debuting at No. 1 on Billboard's Vinyl Albums chart. 30% of the album's sales were in CD format, while an almost equal amount (28.9%) were in vinyl format. The debut marks the largest first-week vinyl sales since Soundscan began tracking this data 24 years ago.

The vinyl version of "Lazaretto," which is White's second solo album, can be played at three alternate speeds and has tracks than can be played from underneath the center label, as well as an a-side that plays from the outside of the album to the inside.

White thanked his fans for supporting his vinyl album, explaining on his website: "Thanks to the fans for making Lazaretto the #1 album in the US, Canada and Denmark!"
