Godsmack are revving up their highly anticipated sixth full-length album, 1000hp, for release on August 5. Itís the follow-up to 2010ís The Oracle, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200. The title track and first single is available on iTunes (purchase here) and other digital retailers today after its worldwide debut at radio yesterday.
"1000hp" bursts out of the gate with the Boston groupís signature stomp and a newfound thrashed-up ďpunkĒ energy. Itís a rowdy, rousing, and rough anthem that tells the story of the bandís journey from playing tiny clubs to packed arenas worldwide.
Once again GODSMACK teamed up with producer Dave Fortman [Slipknot, Evanescence] for the album, recording it back home in their new HQ just 30 minutes from the heart of the city.
About the album, singer Sully Erna comments, ďWe made a conscious decision to go back to the streets of Boston for this album. The single actually recounts our days in the empty bars working our way up to those big stages weíre so blessed to be on. It doesnít just capture the spirit of the city. Itís Godsmack.
Drummer Shannon Larkin adds, ďItís a kickass rock tune from, what I feel, is our most kickass record! Thereís a punk edge and a different energy. I canít wait for everybody to hear it.Ē
