Coldplay have notched the fastest selling album of 2014 with Ghost Stories after selling 168,000 copies since its release on Monday, May 19, according to the Official Charts Company. The LP is also the band's sixth consecutive number one album.

Coldplay knocked Michael Jackson's posthumous album, Xscape, out of the one spot, dropping it into the two spot. The previous fastest selling album of 2014 in the U.K. was Paolo Nutini's Caustic Love, which moved 109,000 copies during its first week of release last month.

"A new Coldplay album always makes a huge impact, and Ghost Stories is no exception," says Martin Talbot, Chief Executive of the Official Charts Company. "The boys have made it a perfect six number 1s out of six albums today; that is some achievement!"

The band has sold over 11.1 million albums total in the U.K. to date.
