Damon Albarn has opened up about his comments to Q magazine on his history of heroin use. The Blur singer admitted to using the drug while spending time in Africa and has now clarified the statement to underscore that he does not condone heroin use.
Speaking with Time Out, Albarn said that his seemingly supportive statements were not an endorsement of drug use:
"I don't totally see it as a mistake. That's the point. It was part of me growing up. Look, I didn't go out and look for it," he began.
"I turned up at my house and there it was . . . on the table. What should I have done? Leave my life and reject it or stay in my own house with my girlfriend and somehow assimilate it into my life?"
Albarn's new solo release Everyday Robots hits stores on April 28.
