Rolling Stone Magazine has revealed that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" has been ranked the number one Nirvana song of all time in their recent poll of the grunge icons' catalogue. The track topped all 102 of the band's songs, beating out other favorites like "In Bloom" (2) and "Silver" (3).

"Almost immediately, 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' changed the firmament of American culture like no song since (Bob) Dylan's 'Like a Rolling Stone,'" wrote the mag. "[Kurt] Cobain's desiccated blasts of feedback [blew] open the doors for alternative culture."

The rest of the top ten (from four to ten) featured "Breed," "Something in the Way," "Dive," "Lithium," "About a Girl," "Drain You" and "Where Did You Sleep Last Night."
