Dave Grohl has revealed that the new Foo Fighters album will sound unlike anything the band has done in the past.

Grohl confirmed to the U.K.'s BBC Radio 1 that the band is working on their eighth album.

"We haven't really disclosed exactly what we are doing," Grohl said. "We recorded something the other day that's unlike anything we've ever done and it starts with a fuse and then it explodes.

The band recently revealed the news that the recording sessions for the new album are "fxxxing on!" via a picture posted to their official Instagram page of a row of master tapes labeled "Foo Fighters LP 8."

Grohl declined to say when the album will be released, but said it would be "great."
