Boston based alternative artist, Adam Jensen, released his second EP of 2013 yesterday. Adam’s Behold The Man EP immediately made a splash on the top 20 of the iTunes singer/songwriter albums chart landing at #7. This follows up Jensen’s “Head on a String” EP that also went to #7 on the chart.
Behold The Man is another new edition of Jensen’s own artistic movement. Moving away from his well-known pop project Mission Hill, Jensen continues to embrace his craft as a prolific songwriter while experimenting with darker elements and new ideas.
“I just wanted to do something that didn’t sound like any of my other records. I was kind of getting bored with myself so I just wanted something different. I didn’t want to sound like anything in particular; I just started messing with some beats and messing with some weird sounds. The stuff I’ve put out in the past is very mainstream, I wanted something a little different this time around.”
Behold The Man is led with “The Kid.” According to Jensen, it’s a song that’s about a bank robbery but metaphorically- it’s about something he relates to.
“With this record, I was writing songs about myself. When I was a kid I worked in a machine shop. I was always with the older kids so I was always known as ‘the kid.’ This song is about robbing a bank, but there’s more to it than that… it’s a metaphor for me because I always played that part growing up.
